How to run a Photoshop action

In my previous article i posted 10 Photoshop actions that you can use to create quick effects in your images. Now i am sure that there will be many of you who want to know how to actually apply a photoshop action. So here is a quick tip to run them.

Step 1:

Most downloadable photoshop actions come in a ZIP file. right click on the file an then choose extract here (unless you want to put it in a specific file of course):

Step 2:

You will see that a .atn file has been extracted. Double click this while photoshop is open and the action will automatically import.

Step 3:

You need to get the action window open in photoshop. Do this by locating to window > actions and making sure that actions is selected:

Step 3:

Simply selection the action that you just uploaded:

Once you have this selected  you have to play the action, making sure that the layer that you want to edit is selection.

At the bottom of the box there is a little play button. Click it and the action will be applied.
